JAVOEdge Flip Case in Aqua Cherry Blossom - lovely

I've been eyeing up the JAVOEdge Cherry Blossom cases even before I made up my mind to buy a Nook. I hesitated because I wasn't sure how I would use it with a book light. I finally decided to give it a try when my better half mentioned he wanted a wood case for his iPhone - JAVOEdge conveniently has several "wood" options made from cork. Since we were already ordering, why not add the Nook case...or so I told myself.

The quality of the linen fabric was everything I'd hoped it would be. It feels really nice in-hand, much nicer than the usual pleather, fuzzy "velvet," or fake suede that is used on the majority of device cases. There is a light amount of padding between the linen and the backing, making it feel even more luxurious.

I specifically chose the Flip design, so that I can read it easily at night in bed, and while nursing a baby. I was never a fan of heavy hardcovers, but with babies, they are nearly impossible. Handsfree reading is really fabulous.

The Nook slides perfectly into the pleather "box," with enough friction to prevent it from sliding around, and all cutouts are perfectly sized for the Nook. Even the Home button is left clear - a common problem on third party cases. I'd like the strips around the buttons to be a touch slimmer, but that would probably compromise the sturdiness of the box.

The pop-out stand in the back snaps securely to the back when not in use. THe angle for reading is more appropiate for reading at a table, not in bed. But I've discovered I can also use the lid as a stand, which allows for the correct angle for reading while lying down.

The tan pleather on this model is okay - it's a bit shiny and not pebbled like other faux leathers, so it definitely looks more like vinyl. And I could really do without the business card slot and pocket, since I'm not likely to put anything in there as it would come in contact with the Nook's screen.

For bedtime reading, I need a book light. The JAVOEdge flip isn't technically compatible with my favorite book light - the m-Edge eLuminator2, but it can work okay slipped in behind the Nook. It's a little more wobbly than I'd like. Anytime I shift in bed it slides around and has to be adjusted back. But it's better than nothing!

Another option at night is to tuck it in behind the Nook through the button slots. It is held more securely this way, but the light can block your view of the screen slightly.

Overall, I really love the JAVOEdge Cherry Blossom cover. It protects the majority of my device, it's beautiful to look at and touch. My only real complaint is that I need a better light situation, but that certainly isn't JAVOEdge's fault. This is now my daily case - I may or may not keep the Industriell Easel cover I've been using up until now.
