Healthy Choice Complete: Beef Tips (Portobello)

My review of the Healthy Choice Complete Entrées: Beef Tips (Portobello) frozen entrée.

Taste: The beef tips and portobello mushroom sauce tasted great. I think the directions need to be redone. The meat/sauce combo cooked up perfect, but the mixed vegetables didn't cook up very well - some were still cold, others were overdone. And the potatoes were watery/mushy and didn't taste anything like mashed potatoes. The dessert in the Complete meals continues to be a disappointment - this time the "caramel apple crisp" didn't taste like caramel, had too much cinnamon and the pasty oatmeal they use to boost fiber count is revolting.

Quality: The beef chunks were a good quality. The green beans, carrots and pearl onions were all bright and fresh looking, but didn't cook up as well as other HC meals have.

Meets expectations/marketing: The meat and vegetables looked as pictured, but the potatoes looked like nothing like mashed potatoes. They almost looked like wet flour.

Filling: Not really, since I didn't eat most of the mashed potatoes, most of the vegetables and none of the dessert after the first taste. I was all out of my stash of low-point snacks and ended up hitting the snack machine for Chex Mix. :(

Value: $2.49 on sale at Wegman's.

Points: 5 (if you actually eat everything!)

Overall: I won't be buying this one again, which is such a shame as the Beef Tips and sauce were really good.
