Picking an announcement

Spent all morning working on a baby announcement, since he's nearly 4 weeks old (!) I've got 4 options I'm noodling around at the moment. Chris saw the first two and likes the white one. At someone's suggestion on2Peas, I cropped/cloned out the diaper and created 2 new ones. And added the stylized "t" while I was at it.

And I still can't decide...

Creativity vs. Energy

My mind is spinning with photo ideas and layout ideas, especially in the quiet hours of the night. Who wouldn't want to scrap this cute face?

But my scrap areas are a mess, and there are other things, like laundry, to worry about. Scrapping will just have to wait. I've been following the 2Peas organizational challenge posts, but haven't taken any action yet. Spent a few nursing hours perusing other people's areas, but haven't found my solutions yet.

And special thanks to Stacie for the Imaginisce Wild Thing goodies she picked up for me, I mean Trevor, at CKC. So cute.

new QuicKutz alpha dies

This year's QuicKutz summer release appears to be alphabets, but in unusual form - the first is a 12" border die, so you can use the negative and the positive:

String Bean = Slim Pickens

And the next one is a 4x4 Revolution die.

Chicken Noodle = Mister Sirloin Well

Fun releases, looking forward to the next two weeks.

First Layout

I'm excited that the Simple Gals have banded together and formed Write.Click.Scrapbook. I spent early Monday morning (I mean EARLY, during a night feeding) checking the site on my iPhone (hey, they said June 1) and enjoyed perusing the June gallery.

And now I'm having fun checking out everyone's first layouts, so I thought I'd share mine. This is a scan from 2000, so the sizing is tiny. I'd scan it again, but the album lives at my parents.

My first layouts were in 2000 for a present for Mom - a mini album with 2 page spreads of each kid's first year, plus a page about our names. She loved it (and still does - the album is falling apart, we've all looked at it so much).

Even then, I was a slow scrapper. I think this 10 page album took me several weeks. It was supposed to be a birthday present in January, but I'm pretty sure it wasn't done until Mother's Day...

Welcome, Trevor

I just wanted to let you know that on May 23rd, our baby boy, Trevor James, was born. He weighed 6 lbs, 14 oz. and measured 19.75 inches. He is a very sweet, cuddly baby.

We've been lying low at home. Although I have a bazillion layout ideas swirling in my head, I'm too tired to do much more than think about them, since my scrap space is still a mess. He nurses approximately every 2 1/2 hours. He pretty much only sleeps on someone's chest - laying him on his back for diaper changes or sleeping is a scream, literally.

He is a snuggler and a cuddler which makes me so happy. I need to get out the carrier that Amelia hated and see if he'll hang out there, so I can get off my sore tailbone. The swing is also a favorite spot, and we can (occasionally) get him to sleep there. I guess none of my babies will ever sleep in that adorable bassinet.

Trevor's big sister adores him. Amelia wants to hold and snuggle him ALL the time and gets very distressed when he cries. She mimics the things that I say, like "it's okay, sweetie, it's okay." So adorable in her little voice.

She has also taken to random pronunciations about being a Big Sister. Example: "I'm a big sister. Big sisters don't eat baby peas. Big sister's like 'sparagus." (so we give her some, which she then refuses to taste).

I'm adjusting to life as a mother of two, and the idea that "the baby" isn't Amelia. DH keeps accidentally saying she/her instead of he/him - 3 years of habit are hard to break.

So we're all adjusting to the new little life in our midst.
