So for 2008, I decided to ban myself from buying scrap stuff. Needless to say, a look at my Quicken Scrapbooking category will show I was unsuccessful. I did sell lots of unused QuicKutz stuff on eBay and Scrapbook Addict, and made $140 at the LSS garage sale, but I still spent more than I made. I just can't resist pretty stuff, although I was successful in cutting back on tool buying, and I did spend less than I did in 2007 or 2006 (2006 I was really bad - babies are bad for scrap budgets!).
So for 2009, I've decided to aim more realistically and try Molly's No Buy List.
Bree's No Buys:
Chipboard - I forget to use it b/c it doesn't organize into my color system.
Alpha stickers - I reach for my QK alphas first.
Rub ons - never remember to use them, either.
Ribbon - too much stash and only use it for cards or mini album covers.
Prima flowers - I rarely use them.
Buttons and other lumpy embellishments - too much stash.
Cricut carts - have 2 unopened ones from the Michael's sale - I use SCAL more.
Cardstock - this will be hard, but I have SO MUCH Bazzill.
DCWV 8x8 stacks - I have plenty to do gift albums with, so they need to stop coming out with cute new ones!
Foam/Felt - I'm good for awhile!
QuicKutz- alphas or shapes or the 12" platform. I can cut plenty of custom shapes with my Cricut and Sure Cuts Alot.
Things Bree just won't give up buying:
Patterned Paper - I have a weakness for Doodlebug, Basic Grey, Crate Paper, Collage and American Crafts. All of which my LSS stocks.
Mini Albums - for specific projects only
Brads - I use them!
Acrylic card sentiment stamps - I use them, too. Although I could probably use my computer more.
QK alphas - it's cheaper to buy the fonts for my Cricut.
Digital Kits - I've been dabbling in digital, and some of the stuff is too pretty to resist. But I'm using them!
Wish me luck...
